Special offer :)

Get the Yggdrasil Winter from my Etsy and get Estonian candy! :D Tempted? How about now:

And if you’re still not tempted, this chance to taste the candy of an obscure country that you have no idea where it is, get anything else and it still works as a candy magnet! :D

In other news, I’m now also doing a girly non-doll blog if you haven’t seen it and would be interested in reading that too. You can find that here. And I promise I’ll try to keep this blog alive more as well. With the newsletter system, the blog tends to get neglected a bit. But I’ll work it out!

Yep, so go get yourself some candy! :D Just thought this would be fun since I bought some great candy today and want to share :)

First of all – MERRY CHRISTMASES!!! It’s now 24th here and Christmas is SO here. Even the weather knows it’s Christmas, there’s snow! Usually it starts snowing in November but this year has been oddly warm (meaning it has been around 1-2C all December). I can’t say I love cold and snow but hey, Christmas and snow sort of go together :D

Anyway. So the last challenge! I have never been to a doll meetup, I live in a very remote place when it comes to dolls. There are two other collectors in my country (that I know of) and they’re both in the capital city where I never have reason to go. There was a meetup in Riga, the capital of Latvia, country just south of Estonia, but it was a bad time for me, couldn’t go :(
I would gladly go to a meetup I think. I mean I’d love to see dolls I don’t own and talk about dolls with collectors. But yes, we’ll see! I’m quite happy being the solitary weirdo too so that’s okay as well :)

Again, MERRY HAPPY CHRISTMAS! Weee!

My dolls don’t go outside much so here’s an old picture:

On a work-related note, did manage to finish one commission, second one in progress. However I still haven’t been able to take any pics, this holiday madness has me running around through the small amount of daylight. It’s frustrating! If not before, then I know that on Monday I will be home during that time though.
Oh and I finally did what I wanted to do for a while – upgraded the strings on the flower hats. Meaning the weaving method is different now, the look is pretty much the same but the new ones don’t twist in on themselves. Yay! That drove me mental but I’m extremely finicky about my work.
Anyway. Here’s to hoping that this BJD Challenge thing will come to its happy end tomorrow! :) So see you then!

First of all, this holiday season is really way more nuts then I ever thought it would be. So I haven’t gotten any work done at all. Meh. I’ll be trying my darnedest to continue today but I won’t be able to start before like 8 pm. I hope to complete one commission today though, here’s to hoping!
I’m really bad at trying to cope with interruptions in my regular routine so I’m not really a happy bunny. It’s all just very tiresome.
Anyway and since I wanted to keep this challenge thing going but haven’t been home during the half hour of proper daylight, here’s an old crazy pose for you! And trust me, when a Narae does this, it’s crazy :D They don’t pose like that. At all.

And more offtopic – the Scared Balls were a success, the person who got them liked them :) Yay!
I’ll try to take pictures of other gift boxes I made tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be home, working tomorrow. Lots of stuff still to do but I hope to get at least three hours of work in there.

Christmasy!

Well I figured I’d share other crafty things besides dolly crafting since it is Christmas time and lots of crafts are happening. So I spent today not only cleaning and reorganizing my home (something that ALWAYS happens before Christmas, I get all omg-my-curtains-suck-and-wtf-is-THAT-thing-there), I also made a swap package for my husbands table tennis practice.
So meet the Scared Balls! (No balls were hurt during the making of this)

And for the balls and the accompanying chocolate I made a box as well:

I also finished the last gift box for my family and maybe I’ll get a picture up of those soonish too.
Dolly crafts for the store will continue in January, I still have quite a load of commissions but they were delayed with me being sick and now other stuff riding in.
Tomorrow is my moms wedding day! And in the evening I have to go see my kids school play. But yay for mom and stepdad finally tying the knot after 21 years of being together :)
Christmas is altogether way more nuts then I thought. Tomorrow there’s all that, then on 24th family dinner, another family dinner with half-brothers and half-sister around 27th or something, then Lords work party on 29th, new years and omg. But I aim to finish at least 2/3 of the running commissions before the year ends :)

Well.. I have favorites but it’s like I have favorites in different genres :P Cookie is one of my very favorites, she’s just so cute! Just look at her!

And ofcourse Keiko. You’d have to kill me to pry her away from me. She really needs new eyes… Her glass eyes have sort of… hazed over. At first I thought they’re dusty or something but no amount of washing works. Vinegar did help a tiny bit, they’re a little clearer now but yeah. So she’s wearing the 12mm ED eyes I got for Nika (which are too small for Nika) and they’re nice but I think they’re too big. So I have to keep an eye out for nice quality 10mm eyes. I don’t like ED in 10mm, they don’t have any threading and just look like glass imho. But that was completely offtopic, sorry! :D

And more offtopicness, still sick, feeling slightly better though. I have to clean today so no lying down much today. With me being out of order for a while, everything has just turned into a mess here and I can’t find the Christmas spirit! I think it’s buried under all this stuff. Have to find it! :D

Next week starts the holiday madness. I never quite thought it would be this nuts. Suddenly there are events left and right which I have to attend. And I’m like.. o.0

Next BJD Challenge will probably make me delay since I stop at the need of taking pictures :P It’s winter here so we have very little daylight and I always seem to miss the light somehow. So see you when I’ve managed to snatch a picture for the next challenge, whenever that is!

Not yet. I have collected supplies to try but I can’t spray until who knows when since MSC wants the air humidity to be under 70% and it has been way over that for the last four months or so. So maybe towards the summer. Or something.
On another topic, it just sucks when you get better from one virus and instantly another one kicks you out. Not only does it feel nasty, it delays everything I have to do. My home is a mess and I wanted to clean it for the holidays and I have commissions and whatnot as well and bleh. Grr I say.

Lets say somewhat. I’ve tried sanding seams on Jude but since I bought her secondhand, she had already darkened a little so when I sanded her seams, they turned lighter. I freaked and left them alone :P By now you can’t see the lighter streaks anymore so it does even out but yeah… I won’t be sanding her any more I think.
Ah yes and I’ve sueded Keiko with hot glue. And that I’d love to do with Sayuri as well but my glue gun blew up after I finished Keiko. I guess it had some circuit problem or something. Odd. And they only sell those high heat glue guns here, the one that blew up I bought online but I don’t want to risk it again. Besides the shipping was dreadfully high.
Yep. So those are my modest modding experiences. I’ve never done any remarkable mods :) And I doubt I will because I don’t have a good place for sanding (I have to do it in the summerhouse so I could do it outside. Obviously during the summer only) and besides I’m scared of resin dust. I’ve had serious lung problems in the past so I’m not keen on breathing in toxic stuff. And yes, I know masks exist. But you never know!

And today, the good things! :D
There are so many things I love about this hobby that it’s actually quite tricky to name one. I think most importantly I love that my dolls give me a creative outlet and a reason for crafting and creating pretty things and keep me “off the streets” :D No but off gaming at least. I’ve been clinically depressed and battling with anxiety disorder for years and years so I got hooked with MMORPGs since they kept my brain busy otherwise. It did save my life back then but it’s not a healthy addiction at all in the long run. It’s like any other addiction, destructive for yourself and the people around you and near impossible to kick without some serious changes. My change was dolls! Crafting is a much better addiction :D
What a serious subject to accompany my morning cup of tea :D
Anyway yes, I love that I’m now creating again and much happier and it’s all thanks to my dolls. Thank you, dollies! And thank YOU for supporting my crafting with buying what I make :)

First of all, check it out guys, my blog is SNOWING!!! :D Isn’t that awesome?
I’m sick so figured I’d continue down the path of challenges since I can’t do anything else at the moment anyway. Sneezing and coughing and generally being horizontal.

So for todays challenge, the downsides of the hobby. Well I have to admit I dislike the part where I get obsessive. I tend to focus so darn hard on a doll I want (or anything else really) that it makes life a tad difficult at times. I don’t jump in to spend grocery money or anything, it’s just the focus problem, I’m like one of those horses with eyepatches or whatsitcalled, no peripheral vision :P
And yes, then I sometimes think that hey, if I wasn’t so addicted to these dolls, I could be spending this money on clothing or household items or furniture (god knows I need a new dining table) but realistically speaking, if I wasn’t collecting dolls at all for example, I wouldn’t have the hobby income for one thing so this money wouldn’t exist anyway and even if it somehow magically did, it would most likely be spent on general living so.. why not get something out of it? :)
The part I dislike that has nothing to do with me and my wacky personality is the picture stealing. I just had two of my pictures stolen and posted on Facebook (many other owners had that issue too). Now I wasn’t crazy upset about them being stolen, they didn’t use my pictures to sell or scam or do something of that sort, it was definitely an eerie feeling but yeah. But the point that I was building up to was that people who steal other peoples pictures make the hobby stressful and force owners go private on Flickr and I personally think that this is a huge loss for the community as a whole, the sense of sharing and free creativity and security really. So this picture stealing incident was sad for me because once again we are losing all those things and will become more and more introverted with this hobby and possibly suspicious of strangers and whathaveyou. It makes me sad :(

So yep, check out the snowing on my page, WordPress says it will stick around until January 4th so not all that long. I’d kind of like it to be here longer, it’s very.. zen :D
